Banned by VAC - 'I need help please'

A VAC-banned newbie asked for a way back in — and got a copy-pasted social-engineering script instead of sympathy.

A member locked out of Counter-Strike by a VAC ban asked if there was any way to change his Steam ID or otherwise get back into play. Regulars quickly and bluntly told him there was no fix — buy a new game, and don't run detected cheats next time. The thread took a turn when a member posted a lengthy 'account recovery' script aimed at tricking other Steam users into handing over their login info, which staff immediately called out as a copy-paste job lifted from the forum's own tutorials section rather than original 'expertise'.

You can't, buy a new account, you shouldn't have used detected hacks, no way to get it back..— rnie

Full Games and GCFs/NCFs [Not Working]

A 15-page relic where the download links died but the bumping never did.

This was a long-running thread in the Steam Client subforum where members shared (and mostly complained about) full game and GCF/NCF file links, most of which had gone dead by the time these later pages were posted. By page 13-15 the thread has devolved into low-effort bumps, quote-replies, one-word posts, and off-topic noise, with a couple members just posting 'unhide' or random comments to reveal hidden content. It's a good snapshot of a dying download thread on its last legs, propped up by stragglers and noobs rather than fresh content.

"Showing off my Steam crack..." — the thread mr.N0Nam3 shut down

A guy teased a Steam crack, everyone begged for the link, and a mod closed it for spam and gravedigging.

In the Steam Client subforum, member Firerain posted a thread bragging about a Steam crack without actually sharing it, sparking a chain of members (Rock Superstar, Reflector, banak, -Darkness-) asking for the download link or claiming they had better ones they'd never leak. It's a classic tease-and-beg thread typical of the cheat scene era, with skepticism ('what's the difference between this and other cracks?') mixed with hype. The thread was eventually locked by moderator mr.N0Nam3 on New Year's Day 2008 for spam and gravedigging.

The VAC2 Bypasser Thread (Later Marked [NOTWORKING])

The tool half the forum thanked c0ke for — before it stopped working and half the forum got banned.

A long-running thread on Gametration.com / Fkn0wned.com's Steam Client subforum where founding member c0ke (Member No. 1) posted a tool claiming to block or bypass Valve's VAC2 anti-cheat system. The thread ran at least 11 pages of replies, mostly quick 'thanks'/'unhide' posts from members trying it out, before eventually being retagged [NOTWORKING] in the title. Later replies show users reporting bans and warning others the tool was now flagged as detectable, capturing the classic cat-and-mouse cycle of cheat-scene tool releases going stale. The page also preserves the site's rebrand mid-thread from Gametration.com to Fkn0wned.com, with matching nav/breadcrumb changes.

THIS DOES NOT LET YOU PLAY ON A VAC2 BANNED ACCOUNT. IT ONLY BYPASSES AND STOPS VAC2 ON AN UNBANNED ACCOUNT SO YOU DO NOT GET BANNED.— c0ke

Free Steam Account (VAC Banned, Thread Closed)

A 'free' Steam account got passed around the forum until it wound up VAC banned and dead — thread officially closed.

A thread in the Steam Client subforum where a member shared a free/shared Steam account for others to use, with the login apparently getting changed and re-hidden multiple times as different members took turns using it. It devolved into low-effort replies, bickering over who had access, and jabs at newcomers who didn't read the earlier posts before asking to be let in. A moderator (DCLXVI) eventually closed it on 20-11-2007 once the account got VAC banned and was effectively worthless.

Fortress Forever - "A lil thing like TF2"

Back in '07, someone dropped a free Half-Life 2 mod on the Steam board and half the forum just said thanks and moved on.

A September 2007 thread in the Steam Client subforum where user thesource posted about Fortress Forever, a Half-Life 2 mod often compared to Team Fortress 2 (which had just been announced/released around that time). The thread is mostly a long chain of short, low-effort replies — 'thanks', 'nice', 'ty ty ty', country/game tags — typical of the era's forum culture where bumping and quick acknowledgments padded post counts. No real debate or drama, just a casual mod-sharing thread that ran at least 5 pages.

[Patch/Crack] Games list - UnDeadPatch Steam crack thread

Back when half the forum was arguing which Steam crack was better than pacsteam.

A 2008 thread in the Steam Client subforum where a member named 'meto' shared a Steam-cracking tool called UnDeadPatch, pitched as an easier alternative to the then-popular 'pacsteam' method, crediting developers SASiO and Diviton. The rest of the thread is mostly low-effort replies: a parade of 'thx', 'ty', 'unhide', and skeptical one-liners like 'ORLY?' from regulars, typical of the era's crack-sharing threads where most engagement was just users grabbing the download and bumping the post.

Steam Client sub-board — Fkn0wned.Com

Where late-2007 forum kids swapped Steam 'cracks', VAC bypass claims, and account-stealing tutorials in one messy thread list.

This is a board index for the 'Steam Client' sub-forum under Steam Related on Fkn0wned.Com, dated around December 2007. Threads cover Steam DRM cracking attempts (GCF/NCF file talk, 'PacSteam', Steam Buster Revolution), VAC ban complaints and bypass claims, account-stealing tutorials, phishing tips, free-game exploits for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch/Lost Coast, and general Steam ID/client troubleshooting questions. The tone is classic mid-2000s cheat-scene forum: brash thread titles, staff-pinned warnings (including one insisting Steam keygens don't exist), and a churn of regular members trading dubious 'working'/'not working' tools. It captures the site's identity as a gaming/cheat community mixing genuine tech-support questions with account theft and piracy talk.

Steam ID's

A 2007 noob asks if you can fake your SteamID — the Co-Manager shuts it down cold.

A short 2007 thread in the Steam Client subforum where a newer member (h3nno) asks whether SteamIDs can be spoofed client-side and whether sv_cheats being enabled locally could let someone crack an rcon password. Forum authority DCLXVI, a Co-Manager, flatly denies both are possible as described, explaining server-side vs client-side distinctions. Another one-post member chimes in speculating about PunkBuster hardware spoofers before the thread trails off.

No, you cannot "spoof" your SteamID serverside.— DCLXVI

Where Does Steam Store Saved Passwords?

A guy asks how to pull saved logins off his 'mate's' PC — 2007 Steam scene at its shadiest.

A short, quietly shady thread from Gametration.com's Steam Client subforum, dated December 2007. User Famousss asks where Steam stores autofill usernames and passwords on a friend's computer, and Rock Superstar replies with general info about the clientregistry.blob file and SteamApps folder. The exchange is brief and unresolved on the page, but typifies the era's casual account-hijacking curiosity common on cheat-scene forums.

i have access to a "mates pc" where does steam store the user name and passwords for the auto fill?— Famousss
The passwords are crypted, i think in the file clientregistry.blob.— Rock Superstar

PSA: Steam Keygens Are Fake

A veteran member shuts down the eternal 'does a Steam keygen exist' myth in one blunt post.

A short PSA-style thread posted in the Steam Client subforum by longtime member Afteryou, warning users that keygens for Steam games do not exist and that anything claiming to be one is either a duplicate key or malware. The post doubles as a moderation notice, stating that future keygen threads would be deleted or closed. It's a small but characteristic snapshot of the mid-2000s cheat/warez forum culture, where staff routinely had to debunk scam tools and set ground rules for the community.

Steam Game Server Status thread (page 3 of 3)

The tail end of a years-old thread just asking: hey, are the servers even up?

This is the final page of a long-running Steam Client subforum thread where members periodically checked in on the status of Steam game servers, mostly for Half-Life, CS 1.6, and CS:Source. By late 2007 the thread had devolved into low-effort bumps, one-word reactions, and someone asking if the original trick/status method 'still works' years later. It's a snapshot of the forum's Steam Related section functioning as a casual utility board rather than a drama hotspot.

Sam and Max Episode 4 - FREE on Steam

That one time a Steam store 'free' promo got its own thread — two posts and gone.

A short, low-activity thread in the Steam Client subforum announcing that Sam and Max Episode 4 was showing up as free in the Steam store. The original poster asks others to confirm if they could grab it, and one other member replies a month later without much elaboration. A quiet, minor snapshot of Steam-era deal-hunting on the forum.
