Nerf's Farewell Thread: "I Quit"
A staffer says he got trojaned, robbed, and DDoS'd off the vent server — then writes the community a goodbye letter, shoutouts and all.
Longtime member and staffer Nerf posted a dramatic resignation thread in March 2008, saying he'd been trojaned, had credit card info stolen, and was tired of dealing with mass Ventrilo bans and DDoS attacks tied to the site. He asked to be demoted from staff, announced he'd change all his contact info, and gave a long list of personal shoutouts thanking (and ribbing) various members. The thread fills up with the community's reaction — a mix of genuine sadness, jokes, disbelief that he'd really stay gone, and a couple of people needling him for being left off the shoutout list. It's a classic 'drama exit' thread typical of small hack-scene forums of the era, capturing both the site's tight-knit vibe and its rough security reputation.
Today I quit thec0re because of security issues. I've been trojaned and even my credit card information was released— Nerf
well nerf what can u expect when its a hacking community and we got people posting keyloggers and exploits and so on— Afteryou
He'll be back. They always come back. *Attaches a big fat GPS tracking device to his leg* You'll come back. <3— James
UK Users - Clocks Going Forward
The most British thread possible: an entire page of thec0re members just confirming they'd changed their clocks.
A small, cozy General Banter thread from March 2008 where a UK member reminded everyone that the clocks had gone forward for daylight saving. It quickly turned into members from all over the world - UK, US, Australia, Belgium, Denmark - checking in to say they'd adjusted their clocks too, or complaining about lost sleep. Completely mundane, but a nice little snapshot of the international, laid-back community vibe outside of the cheat/hack side of the forum.
The time just went 1 hour ahead, so ajust your clocks, mobiles, phones and anything else etc.. this might also count for other countries but i dont kno— Laptops
my dad got pissed at me because of this i didnt adjust my clock so i was on the pc till 4 am -.-— ThePyeman
Perth people now can move there time back 1 hr thanks to end of daylight saving loll— zyc3
Warez-BB.org "Hacked" (Actually an Early April Fool's Joke)
Rival warez site 'gets hacked,' whole forum loses it — turns out it was just an April Fool's prank a day early
Thread kicks off with Inzane pointing to warez-bb.org appearing defaced/hacked, with mods and admins supposedly banned and 'free stuff' being handed out. Members pile on with speculation about how it was done (bruteforce, trojans, exploits) and jokes about grabbing free accounts, while a few voice sympathy or skepticism. It's eventually revealed the whole thing was an April Fool's joke posted a day early specifically so nobody would suspect it, and by the end members are ribbing each other for having fallen for it.
Weell, if you see the "lulz" on top click it. ^^ Owned. Every mod/admin is banned.— Inzane
It's a good trick. They do the prank BEFORE April Fool's Day so that no one THINKS that it is a prank— Niall
Took me 3 minutes to see it was fake tho ^^— Inzane
